You mean John Winkler, "the international lecture superstar," whose "lessons are elegantly rubbed home?" Or the other John Winkler (not to be confused with Martin Winkler, A.K.A. "Dr. Fonz"), who wrote a book with Froma Zeitlin bearing a similar title?

Interestingly enough the title of that book (which I haven't read) comes from the heading to an entry in the Suda, which you can find here.
